Norfolk NATO Festival highlights Albania’s culture and tradition

TIRANA, April 22 – The Norfolk NATO Festival opened in Norfolk, Virginia, bringing together NATO member countries in a celebration of international cooperation. The annual event featured flag-raising ceremonies and cultural exhibitions in the city centre.

Organisers held the traditional NATO flag-raising ceremony in April to mark the official opening of the festival. Representatives from member states attended the event, which emphasised unity, solidarity and shared values within the Alliance.

Albania stood out at the “NATO Village” cultural showcase with its national float. The display featured traditional motifs, national symbols and elements of Albanian cultural heritage. Visitors from the United States and abroad visited the Albanian presentation throughout the festival.

The “Albanian Tent” returned for a 17th consecutive year as one of the most visited attractions. It offered traditional Albanian food, including byrek (pie), qofte (meatballs) and homemade desserts, alongside music and handicrafts. Organisers said the exhibit aimed to present Albanian hospitality and cultural identity.

The Norfolk NATO Festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural exchange among NATO members and the local community. It promotes engagement between participating countries through shared cultural and public events.
