Tirana International Airport attracts international attention as CNN highlights its fast and efficient passenger control system.
CNN reports that the airport stands out in Europe for its simplified and rapid security procedures. It describes Tirana as a model of efficient air travel, despite tighter security rules and longer queues in many European airports.
Travel journalist Simon Calder says he experiences a smooth and very fast transit at the airport. He explains that passengers pass through biometric systems and automated checks in seconds.
Calder notes that the airport uses facial recognition, passport scanning, and fingerprint verification to secure borders while keeping the process fast. He says passengers move through dedicated lanes with minimal delays.
He contrasts this experience with many European airports, where new security systems often increase waiting times. He says Tirana offers a simpler and more efficient model.
During the CNN discussion with presenter Richard Quest, Calder recalls a recent trip to Tirana where he clears security in about five seconds.
He adds that the airport allows passengers from different regions to proceed quickly through clearly marked automated lanes. He describes the experience as smooth and well organized.
