New schemes for farmers, Minister Salla for Euronews Albania: We will support them with budgets

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, in a live connection on Euronews Albania’s program “Euronews Now” with Thimi Samarxhiu, spoke about Agriculture Week and the new schemes for farmers. During his remarks, Salla stated that they are currently out in the field.

He emphasized that they are holding discussions with farmers regarding the national scheme. The minister underlined that this is an inclusive scheme and has been adapted based on suggestions from farmers across all municipalities.

“We have visited every municipality and met with farmers, and we will continue doing so to guide them to apply for our national scheme, so they can become part of our budget. We have allocated 52 million euros through AZHBR, which is our institution where farmers can apply.

By discussing with them, we have also identified other issues, which we continuously reflect in our budgeting, including informing municipalities about problems related to irrigation and drainage,” he said.

Among other things, the minister noted that irrigation remains one of the key issues. He stated that a budget has already been allocated and they are currently in the phase of distributing funds.

“We have already allocated part of the budget to municipalities that have applied to the Ministry of Agriculture, and we are now in the process of distributing funds to priority areas—those that have had longstanding issues or areas not covered by irrigation systems. What is most important is the creation of joint SHBB structures to bring Albanian agriculture to another level,” he added.

The minister also stressed the importance of farmers collecting invoices. According to him, invoices are necessary so that farmers can receive budget support, enabling them to invest more in their farms or agricultural businesses.
