Shooting at Trump dinner, Prime Minister Rama reacts

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted through a post on X regarding the shooting reported during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton. Rama wrote that such an attack strikes at freedom and the democratic way of life everywhere.

Among other things, he condemned the attack, emphasizing that he feels relieved that everyone present at the dinner is safe.

“I am concerned to receive the news of a violent attack by an armed individual at a hotel in Washington, DC, during a presidential event with journalists. An attack like this strikes at freedom and our democratic way of life everywhere. I strongly condemn it. I am relieved that Donald Trump and all attendees are safe and well.”

Gunfire was reported during the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The event had just begun when a loud commotion was heard at the entrance of the hall.

Attendees immediately lay down on the floor. The President and First Lady Melania Trump, who were seated at the central table in an elevated position facing the guests, were escorted away by security.

Secret Service agents entered the room heavily armed. Security forces then ordered the guests — journalists, ministers, politicians, and various public figures — to evacuate the large hall located on the first basement level of the hotel. The suspected perpetrator was arrested immediately, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
