“Double Your Enterprise” credit scheme targets small and medium business growth

TIRANA, April 27 – Prime Minister Edi Rama announced a new credit programme called “Double Your Enterprise” aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses with more favourable financing conditions.

He introduced the initiative during his weekly podcast and said the scheme will offer reasonable interest rates for entrepreneurs seeking to expand their operations. He added that the programme will be implemented in cooperation with the Bank of Albania and second-tier banks.

Rama said the state-backed programme will provide lower borrowing costs compared with standard commercial lending. He stressed that it will help business owners who already run small enterprises and aim to scale up production.

In addition, he said the initiative also targets start-ups that plan to move into production and become profitable companies. He noted that eligible applicants will gain access to financing that is often difficult to secure through traditional banking channels.

The government is expected to finalise the agreement framework soon. Implementation will start after coordination with financial institutions is completed.
