Edi Rama: Government to Increase Funding for Startups

Prime Minister Edi Rama said the government will significantly increase funding for startups. He made the announcement at the National Science Festival final held at the Congress Palace in Tirana. Students from high schools presented research projects, engineering prototypes, and digital solutions.

Rama praised the students’ innovation and stressed the need to unlock the potential of the younger generation. He said Albania has made major progress in digital public services but needs stronger development in the private tech sector. The government plans to expand financial support and create systems to help students develop projects into startups.

He also highlighted cooperation with EU partners and called for closer work between schools, universities, and institutions to access more technology funding. The first prize went to “Zhani Ciko” high school in Patos for a project combining technology with environmental sustainability and the importance of bees.
