Prime Minister Edi Rama said the “Mountain Package” is driving a new phase of rural development in Albania. He described it as a growing engine for the tourism industry and a key tool for unlocking the economic potential of mountain areas.
Rama said applications for the program are increasing, especially from Albanians living abroad. He noted that many diaspora members are now looking to invest savings in their hometowns and family properties.
He explained that the program simplifies procedures and allows investment to begin even before full property titles are finalized. The initiative also includes fiscal incentives, including a 10-year tax exemption for the first 500 approved projects.
Rama said the goal is to transform abandoned rural homes and land into farms, agrotourism sites, and small production businesses. He encouraged applicants to take part, saying the program will bring long-term benefits for families and contribute to national development.
