Blendi Gonxhja highlights transformation of Durrës museum

Blendi Gonxhja said the Archaeological Museum of Durrës now displays over 3,200 artefacts.

He added that the museum presents Albania’s ancient history in modern, restructured pavillions. Moreover, he said new technologies allow visitors to experience a “journey through time.”

In addition, he emphasized that Durrës turns its historical heritage into economic and cultural development. He also noted that authorities secured the museum’s ownership in 2024 after past disputes.

Furthermore, he praised Albanian archaeologists and strengthened the museum team to 33 professionals, including restorers and guides.

Finally, he thanked the EU4Culture programme for supporting the restoration and reopening of the museum.
