TIRANA, April 30 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to a report published by SIGMA under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which evaluates Albania’s Media and Information Agency (MIA).
The report highlights the creation of the Media and Information Agency as a structure within the Prime Minister’s Office. It says the agency coordinates communication across the public administration.
Rama says the Media and Information Agency plays an important role in serving both the media and the public. He adds that the assessment comes from an international institution rather than the government itself.
SIGMA, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, bases its findings on verified data and professional analysis. The report also reviews Albania’s model of government communication.
It describes communication as more than an administrative function. It presents it as a tool for governance, transparency, and public trust.
The report notes that the Media and Information Agency organizes press conferences and manages media relations. It also coordinates institutional responses and public communication activities.
Rama congratulates the agency and its staff on the assessment. He calls the report a recognition of their work.
