The head of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi, stated that the Serbian government has blocked transfers and donations from Kosovo intended for development and the preservation of national identity in the Presevo Valley.
“This is not a technical issue. It is about blocking funds… that directly affect 3,650 students, 94 children without parents, 957 farmers… and thousands of citizens,” Rexhepi said.
According to him, the blockage is being carried out through the banking system by Serbian authorities and Minister Demo Berisha.
Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo condemned the move, describing it as an “unacceptable interference” and part of a “repeated pattern of institutional obstruction.”
According to authorities in Pristina, the funds in question were allocated on October 10, 2025, amounting to €304,000, but have not been executed. By April 2026, the total amount of blocked funds has reached over €1.8 million.
The Government of Kosovo stressed that this practice “violates international standards” and has informed the European Union and other relevant actors, requesting a response on the issue.
Kosovo authorities added that they will continue to support Albanians in the Presevo Valley “by using all democratic and international means” to ensure the protection of their rights.
