Document of Ambassadorial Nominee: Eric Wendt on Business Influence and Avoiding Conflicts of Interest

An ethics agreement signed on March 17, 2026, by the nominee for United States Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, outlines the measures he will take to avoid conflicts of interest while carrying out his duties.

The document specifies that Wendt will not participate in decision-making processes directly related to his personal financial interests or those of individuals connected to him, including family members and organizations in which he may have a role. In such cases, he plans to recuse himself from the decision-making process or seek authorization in accordance with relevant U.S. legislation.

The text also emphasizes the nominee’s commitment to avoiding conflicts of interest in relation to companies operating in Albania.

As part of these commitments, Wendt states that he will divest his shares in Tesla, Inc. within 90 days of confirmation, and that he will monitor his investments to prevent similar situations in the future. The document also предусматриes restrictions on his involvement in matters related to the institution where his spouse is employed.

The agreement has been drafted in accordance with U.S. legal requirements for transparency and ethics in public appointments and is expected to be published by the relevant authorities after the completion of the confirmation process.
