Hoxha: No Blockage in Negotiations, Rama–Vučić Article Is Not Against the EU

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, reported this Monday to the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee during a hearing session, where he spoke extensively about the progress of Albania’s European integration process and the latest developments in negotiations with the European Union.

The minister rejected claims of any blockage or veto by EU member states, stating that the accession process is continuing normally and that there are no formal obstacles. He emphasized that Albania is progressing based on merit and the implementation of reforms, adding that the recommendations of the European Commission within the framework of the IBAR report have been positive and support the continuation of the process. Hoxha also underlined that the country’s strategic goal remains full membership in the European Union by 2030.

“There has not been and there is no blockage, there has not been and there is no veto from any member state regarding Albania’s EU accession process,” Hoxha stated clearly, adding that this positive progress has also been confirmed by the EU Delegation in Tirana.

During his report, Hoxha highlighted Albania’s progress in the negotiation process, noting that the country moved from opening zero chapters in October 2024 to opening all 33 chapters by November 2025. According to him, this pace demonstrates both Albania’s institutional preparedness and the support of EU institutions for the country’s advancement in the integration process.
