“Chase Travel”: Albanian Riviera among top summer destinations for 2026

TIRANA, May 5 – The Albanian Riviera has emerged as one of the most attractive alternatives for international travellers for summer 2026. Traditional Western European destinations now face overcrowding and high prices, Betsy Blumenthal writes in Chase Travel.

The US travel magazine includes the Albanian Riviera in its main travel list for 2026. It highlights natural beauty, competitive prices, and authenticity along the Ionian coastline.

The report describes a developing destination. Mountains meet crystal-clear waters along this coastline. The area features pebble beaches, hidden bays, and small coastal villages with limited mass tourism.

It highlights Ksamil, Himara, and Dhërmi. These destinations combine boutique hotels, fresh seafood, and active tourism options. The article also mentions the planned international airport in Vlora as a key infrastructure project. It says the airport will improve access to the region. Until then, many visitors travel through Corfu and continue by ferry to Saranda.

The feature lists several attractions along the Riviera. These include Butrint Archaeological National Park, the Blue Eye, Lëkurësi Castle, Lukova Beach, Gjipe Beach, and Llogara National Park.

The article also points to Tirana as an urban extension of the trip. It highlights Bunk’Art 1 and Bunk’Art 2 as major historical sites that document the communist period.

It notes rapid growth in the hospitality sector. Accommodation now ranges from boutique hotels to seaside resorts. It also highlights Albanian cuisine, including byrek and tavë kosi. Coastal areas focus on fresh fish and seafood, often served with raki and traditional desserts such as baklava.

The report concludes that Albania combines affordability, natural landscapes, and infrastructure development. It says the Albanian Riviera is becoming one of the most promising Mediterranean destinations for 2026. It also notes rising international interest in the coming years.
