Albania Records Strong Tourist Growth at Cultural Heritage Sites in April

Albania reports a significant increase in visitors to cultural heritage sites during April 2026.

Rozafa Castle attracts around 17,000 visitors in April alone. It reaches more than 33,000 visitors from January to April, making it one of the most visited sites in the country.

Gjirokastër Castle welcomes 14,592 visitors in April. About 72% are foreign tourists from more than 40 countries, while 28% are domestic visitors.

Officials say the data shows growing international interest in Albanian history and culture. They also highlight increased engagement from local visitors.

The Onufri Iconographic Museum records 8,761 visitors in April. This represents a 59% increase compared to the same month last year. Authorities say cultural tourism continues to rise across Albania’s key heritage destinations.
