Rinas Rail Station Project Opens, €91.6 Million Budget Allocated

Hekurudha Shqiptare has opened a procurement procedure for the detailed design and construction of the Rinas airport railway station. The project is part of the Tirana–Durrës–Rinas rail line.

The allocated budget for this phase stands at around 91.6 million lekë.

The authority says the new station is essential to improve passenger services and create a modern and functional transport infrastructure.

The project includes improved public transport access and better parking organization. It also plans easier access to passenger platforms, pedestrian pathways, and sidewalks. In addition, it will organize surrounding areas for taxis, buses, and passenger drop-off and pick-up zones.

Two main contracts are currently underway for the rail line. One covers civil works and signaling-telecommunications systems. The other focuses on station construction.

Officials say infrastructure works are progressing. They expect station buildings to be completed by June.

Authorities aim to finish the entire rail line within this year. Meanwhile, electrification and operational launch are expected in the first quarter of 2027.

The Tirana–Durrës rail line and the Rinas extension span 39 kilometers. Electric trains will cover the route in 22 minutes. The line will include 11 stations in total.
