Begaj Attends 25th Anniversary of Albania–US Military Cooperation

President Bajram Begaj attended the 25th anniversary ceremony of cooperation between the Albanian Armed Forces and the New Jersey National Guard in Zall-Herr.

During the event, officials from Albania and the United States gathered alongside senior defense representatives.

In his speech, Begaj stated that the strategic partnership with the United States is a cornerstone of Albania’s foreign policy, security, and defense.

Moreover, he described the cooperation as a success story built on trust, professionalism, and strong human ties.

He also emphasized that this partnership has transformed and modernized the Albanian Armed Forces over the past 25 years.

Through joint training, military education, and technical support, the forces have improved their NATO compatibility.

As a result, the Albanian Armed Forces are now more professional, more interoperable, and better prepared for national and allied missions.

In addition, Begaj noted that cooperation should expand into military education, joint exercises, cyber defense, and strategic infrastructure.

He highlighted major projects such as the Kuçova Air Base and the Porto Romano port.

Furthermore, he explained that these developments strengthen Albania’s role within NATO.

Regarding regional security, he stressed that NATO must remain strong and that the United States must maintain its presence in the Balkans.

He also supported Kosovo’s NATO membership and stronger transatlantic cooperation.

Finally, Begaj reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to the United States, NATO, and democratic allies, and expressed gratitude to the New Jersey National Guard for its continued partnership.
