VanHorn Praises Albania–US Defense Cooperation at Anniversary Ceremony

The Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Albania, Nancy VanHorn, attended the 25th anniversary ceremony of the State Partnership Program between the New Jersey National Guard and the Albanian Armed Forces.

She said the New Jersey National Guard and the Albanian Armed Forces train together and strengthen each other. As a result, both sides become more capable, more skilled, and more effective.

VanHorn highlighted that the partnership reflects the vision of “Peace through Strength.” She said it builds forces that can deter aggression and protect freedom.

She also noted that the partnership began 25 years ago with a simple commitment. The two sides agreed to train together, learn from each other, and stand side by side.

Moreover, she recalled Albania’s NATO accession in 2009. She also mentioned joint deployments in Afghanistan, where Albanian and American troops served together.

In addition, VanHorn spoke about recent joint training exercises, including “Eagle Strike.” She said she saw young cadets from both countries working together as one unit in the field.

She also highlighted joint drone training between the two forces. She said it showed how the partnership has evolved with modern warfare and technology.

Finally, VanHorn stressed that the partnership is not only about past achievements. She said it is about future cooperation, stronger capabilities, and shared security.
