U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn attended the “Battle of the Bands” concert in Tirana featuring the Flagship and the Orchestra of the Albanian Armed Forces.
During her opening remarks, VanHorn said the event celebrated “Freedom 250,” a global initiative launched by Donald Trump to honor 250 years of American independence, innovation, and freedom.
Furthermore, she described the concert as one of the highlights of American Cultural Week in Albania.
“We are celebrating 250 years of American independence, innovation, and the enduring spirit of freedom,” VanHorn said.
According to her, the “Freedom 250” initiative invites U.S. partners and allies around the world, including Albania, to celebrate American history and the values of liberty, opportunity, and prosperity.
At the same time, VanHorn stressed that the concert represented more than an artistic event. She said the performance symbolized the strong partnership and friendship between Albania and the United States.
The concert brought together the “Flagship” band of the U.S. Naval Forces and the Orchestra of the Albanian Armed Forces on one stage.
In addition, Albanian artists Renis Gjoka and Gjergji Kaçinari joined the performance.
VanHorn also thanked the institutions and partners that helped organize American Week activities. These included Albania’s Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Tirana, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education, the Security Academy, the University of Tirana, the University of Arts, and the Albanian-American Development Foundation.
Finally, VanHorn said the partnership between Albania and the United States remains strong because of the cooperation and friendship between the institutions and citizens of both countries.
