Speaking on his podcast this Sunday, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania is closer than ever to the European Union, adding that the objective is achievable with commitment and determination.
He stressed that the European Commission and the member states are currently in a phase of discussing the Commission’s report, which, according to him, states that Albania has fulfilled all of its homework.
Rama said that the country is undergoing an unstoppable process of reforms and transformations that are bringing Albania ever closer to the historic objective of European Union membership, while at the same time strengthening the rule of law, transparency, and good governance.
“The negotiations have advanced at a rapid pace, chapters have been opened in record time, the relationship with the European Union is being built day by day through concrete results, and now the European Commission and the member states, through their ambassadors, are in a key phase of the process where they are discussing the Commission’s report, which underlines that Albania has fulfilled all of its homework and is ready to enter the chapter-closing phase by passing through the interim benchmarks. All of this has not come by chance; it has come through work, through results, through a transformative process that continues in every sector. Judicial reform, the transformation of the administration, the digitalization of services, the modernization of the economy, investments and transformations in energy, infrastructure, and new standards in strategic sectors are not isolated parts nor just a list of empty words, but rather links in an increasingly solid chain for building the European state of Albanians. Therefore, May 9 for us is not only Europe Day, but also a moment when we breathe with a legitimate sense of pride and move forward to reach the summit, which is now attainable with commitment, commitment, commitment and will, will, will,” Rama emphasized.
