Marta Kos will visit Pristina on May 15 for her first official trip to Kosovo since taking office.
First, EU sources confirm that the visit will take place next week, pending official announcement. Then, officials note that she has already visited all other Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership countries involved in the EU enlargement process.
Meanwhile, earlier plans for a visit were canceled due to Kosovo’s political situation and institutional delays. In addition, EU officials now say the visit should proceed despite ongoing political challenges.
Moreover, Marta Kos has previously said she will discuss reforms linked to the EU Growth Plan during her stay. Furthermore, Kosovo recently received €61.8 million in pre-financing under the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Finally, the visit comes as Kosovo continues its EU integration process, while five EU member states still do not recognize its independence.
