Tirana Lake Remains Capital’s Green Oasis

Artificial Lake Park remains one of the most popular and attractive areas in the Albanian capital.

The lake offers a peaceful space for both residents and foreign tourists visiting Tirana. The area combines nature, sports, and relaxation in the heart of the city.

Edi Rama shared images this Sunday from the Artificial Lake, surrounded by green trees and spring landscapes.

The Grand Park is the largest green space in Tirana. People use it for walking, jogging, relaxing, and outdoor activities. The calm environment attracts visitors of all ages.

The park stretches across soft hills, while the artificial lake lies in its southern part. The lake creates small bays and peninsulas, giving the area a picturesque view.

Construction of the park began in the 1950s. In 1955, workers created the artificial lake from nearby waters and built a 400-meter dam through voluntary work to protect the city from flooding.

Between 1957 and 1958, authorities planted decorative vegetation and expanded the park’s infrastructure. Over time, the area became one of the most important public spaces in the capital.
