Hoxha Clarifies Statement on Italy Migration Protocol Renewal

Ferit Hoxha clarified his earlier remarks regarding the possible renewal of the migration protocol between Albania and Italy.

He explained that a journalist in Brussels asked whether the agreement would be renewed after its initial five-year period.

Hoxha said he responded: “I am not sure.”

He added that he assumed Albania would already be an EU member by then, which would change the situation.

Furthermore, he stressed that his comment was not a decision or policy statement, but only a spontaneous reflection.

He underlined that the statement should not be interpreted as a change in Albania’s position on the protocol.

In addition, Hoxha said that in today’s world, noise spreads faster than context and facts.

He warned that isolated statements often create narratives that do not reflect the real meaning of discussions or government positions.
