Peleg: Albania-Israel Partnership Brings Innovation to Agriculture

Prime Minister Edi Rama, Israeli Ambassador Galit Peleg, and Agriculture Minister Andis Salla visited the experimental farm at the “Mihal Shahini” vocational school in Cërrik.

MASHAV developed the project to support education, training, and innovation in agriculture.

Ambassador Peleg said the project represents more than an agricultural investment. She called it a strong example of partnership and trust between Albania and Israel.

“Knowledge, innovation, and cooperation can transform lives and communities,” Peleg said.

She explained that MASHAV has promoted international cooperation for decades. The agency focuses on partnerships that help communities build their future.

Peleg stressed that innovation must remain accessible for all farmers, including small farms.

“Innovation matters only when everyone can access it,” she said.

She added that knowledge gains value when people share it and use it to create real impact.

According to Peleg, the farm transformed into an innovation center in just six months. The site now includes three modern greenhouses, advanced milking equipment, and computer-controlled drip irrigation systems.

She said the center should become a place where farmers and young people can learn about modern agricultural methods and gain inspiration.

Peleg also highlighted the historic ties between Albania and Israel. She recalled how Albania sheltered Jews during the Holocaust.

At the end of her speech, Peleg addressed the students directly. She described the farm as their future and encouraged them to become the next generation of agricultural leaders and producers.

The project aims to modernize Albanian agriculture through technology, vocational training, and sustainable rural development. It also strengthens cooperation between Albania and Israel in innovation and agriculture.
