TIRANA, May 13 – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu visited the new “Hospitality Centre” in Sarandë, a multifunctional facility expected to open soon for the tourist season. Officials said the project combines modern infrastructure and European standards with Albanian hospitality traditions.
Sarandë Mayor Oltion Çaçi accompanied Koçiu during the visit. The officials inspected the new building, which includes 100 public parking spaces for buses and private vehicles.
Turning to the project details, Koçiu described the centre as the city’s first point of reception for visitors and tourists. She said the investment stands on public property and aims to improve parking and visitor services in Sarandë.
In addition, she said the facility offers more than parking services. The centre also includes bars, restaurants and accommodation areas for travellers waiting for bus departures. She added that the project aims to provide safer and more organised services for tourists.
Koçiu said the municipality will manage the public parking area. She also noted that the centre will help distribute tourist flows more efficiently across the city.
Regarding infrastructure, she said the building covers 8,000 square metres and includes three floors and one underground parking level. She added that the project forms part of a broader programme on tourism infrastructure and urban development in Sarandë.
Meanwhile, Koçiu described Sarandë as one of the main jewels of Albanian tourism. She said the investment supports sustainable tourism growth and helps avoid uncontrolled development. She also noted that tourist numbers in Sarandë have doubled or tripled during the past five years.
Mayor Çaçi described the project as one of the most important tourism infrastructure investments in the city. He said the Albanian government, the Albanian Development Fund and the municipality implemented the project with support from the World Bank.
According to Çaçi, the investment has been completed and workers are currently installing road signs and supporting infrastructure. He added that authorities plan to open the centre during May, ahead of the summer tourism season.
