Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu presented a package of measures in Saranda to ensure a safe and successful tourism season.
She said Albania has seen a sharp increase in tourist numbers over the past five years. However, she stressed that the country has managed the flow without major problems.
Moreover, Koçiu said the result is not accidental. She described it as the outcome of coordinated institutional work.
In addition, she noted that the annual action plan has become more detailed as tourist numbers continue to grow.
Police structures, including border and road police, have already implemented operational plans. These include more staff at border crossings, improved road signage, and dedicated docks for tourist vessels.
Furthermore, she highlighted smoother border procedures and continuous coastal patrols to ensure maritime safety.
Koçiu also underlined preparedness for wildfire prevention. She said the national fire service is fully ready to respond to emergencies.
At the same time, she mentioned strengthened emergency health services and expanded summer health centers under the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture is organizing a series of cultural events to enrich the tourist season.
She also praised preparations at the Port of Saranda. She said measures are in place to reduce delays and improve passenger flow.
Moreover, she announced the upcoming introduction of a new system at the ports of Saranda and Durrës.
The e-Gate system at “Mother Teresa” Airport has already reduced border crossing times to just a few minutes.
Finally, Koçiu said Saranda is becoming one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Albania.
