Vengu meets Albanian students in North Macedonia, backs Albanian-language exams

Socialist Party MP Pirro Vengu met with Albanian students in Struga and Tetovo during his two-day visit to North Macedonia.

During the meetings, Vengu said Albanian students are not asking for ethnic privileges. Instead, he said they are demanding what he called “European normality” by seeking to take state exams in the Albanian language.

He also warned that denying or neglecting the Albanian language threatens the professional and social future of young Albanians in the country.

Meanwhile, Vengu praised the students for what he described as a dignified and courageous campaign. He said their efforts have become an inspiration for many people.

In addition, he stressed that the issue goes beyond language rights. According to him, it also concerns equal opportunities and the future of hundreds of thousands of young people who want to build their lives in their own country.

For months, Albanian students in North Macedonia have protested to demand state exams in Albanian. As a result, the issue has increasingly entered the political debate.
