U.S. Embassy in Tirana: Cybersecurity Essential for Sovereignty and Economic Growth

Cybersecurity has now become an inseparable element of economic growth and national security.

This was stated by the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Tirana, Kathryn Hammond, during an event where American cybersecurity solutions were presented.

Referring to the importance of protecting digital infrastructure, Hammond emphasized that this issue is directly linked to the sovereignty and security of nations, according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Tirana.

“Cybersecurity is now inseparable from economic growth and national security. As President Trump has made clear, protecting our digital infrastructure from foreign threats is not just good policy — it is essential for sovereignty and security. Albania has made impressive strides in digital transformation, from e-governance and financial modernization to energy infrastructure. But progress requires responsibility. These systems must be protected with the most reliable and advanced technology available,” Hammond stated.

The statement was made during an event aimed at presenting American solutions for strengthening cyber defense, at a time when Albania continues expanding digital services and electronic infrastructure in key sectors of the economy and public administration.
