Besmir Beja held an official meeting at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Geneva to discuss the modernization of Albania’s customs systems and their alignment with European Union standards.
During the meetings with ASYCUDA program officials, participants highlighted the progress made by the Albanian customs administration in developing new technological systems. They also welcomed the transition to the ASY5 platform and integration with European transit and information exchange systems.
Moreover, the Albanian Customs Administration described the process as an important step toward improving efficiency, transparency, and security in customs procedures. As a result, Albania is moving closer to EU practices and standards.
In addition, discussions focused on the use of artificial intelligence in risk analysis, customs valuation, and tariff classification.
Furthermore, the Albanian side presented its priorities for the digital transformation of customs administration. The goal is to build a modern and intelligent system fully aligned with European standards.
Finally, both sides stressed the importance of continued cooperation with UNCTAD and the ASYCUDA program as strategic partners supporting customs reforms and digitalization in Albania.
