Minister Gonxhja: Museum Week brings together culture, history and art

TIRANA. May 18 – Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja announced the “Museum Week 2026” initiative in a social media post. He said the event will take place from 18 to 24 May across Albania.

During the week, museums, archaeological parks and cultural heritage sites will open their doors to the public. They will offer a programme of exhibitions, guided tours, artistic performances and educational activities.

The event follows the international theme set by the International Council of Museums, “Museums Uniting a Divided World”. It aims to promote cultural heritage as a bridge between people, cultures and generations. It also focuses on dialogue, reflection and shared experiences.

Meanwhile, entry will be free on 18 May for International Museum Day. It will also be free on 21 May for the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
