Germany Backs Albania’s EU Membership, Balla Says

Chairman of the Socialist Party parliamentary group Taulant Balla said Germany supports Albania’s EU membership.

He met German Minister of State for Europe Gunther Krichbaum together with Igli Hasani. They discussed Albania’s EU integration progress. They also discussed justice reform.

Balla thanked Germany for strong support. He said Albania is a model in justice reform. He mentioned the vetting process for judges and prosecutors. He said it improved accountability and legal security for foreign investment.

He said Germany supports Albania’s EU accession.

A high-level Albanian parliamentary delegation is currently in Berlin. The delegation is visiting the German Chancellery, government institutions and the Bundestag.

The talks focus on Albania’s EU accession process. They also focus on the broader enlargement perspective for candidate countries.
