Parliament Monitors Albanian Film Archive Progress

The Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora conducted a monitoring visit to the National Film Archive of Albania.

The committee reviewed the institution’s work and ongoing projects. It also assessed challenges and operational needs.

Director Eljan Tanini presented the archive’s activities. He highlighted digitization efforts and cooperation with other archives. He also mentioned the recovery of materials from the Polytechnic University archive.

He said the archive invites individuals to share historical materials. He also said the archive is not yet fully open to the public due to limited staff and funding. He requested legal and institutional support to improve its status.

Committee Chair Ina Zhupa said the archive is a national cultural asset. She said it preserves the work of major Albanian artists and can support tourism.

Evis Kushi said discussions focused on improving legislation, increasing investment and advancing digitization.

The committee encouraged the archive to report any issues and assured continued institutional support.
