TIRANA, May 21 – The Socca European Championship officially kicked off in Albania on Wednesday in a festive atmosphere at the “House of Football”, which hosts the European minifootball tournament.
Meanwhile, group-stage matches took place throughout the day. In addition, the opening ceremony brought music, artistic performances, and a strong atmosphere inside the temporary stadium built for the competition.
Later, Albania faced Turkey at 21:00 and opened its campaign with a 5-0 victory. The team, led by coach Irtan Sejko, dominated the match with Flavio Prendi scoring in the 6th minute. Albania ended the first half 1-0 ahead.
In the second half, Albania added four more goals. Xhuliano Reçi scored first. Jahmir Hyka scored the third goal in the 33rd minute. In addition, Mario Ademi scored the fourth goal one minute later. Mehmet Hoxha completed the 5-0 scoreline after an assist from Mentor Mazrekaj.
Coach Sejko fielded Bleron Berisha, Joanc Duqi, Flavio Prendi, Irvi Bylyku, Oltion Rapa, Erald Leci, Jahmir Hyka, Xhulian Reci, Guido Tepshi, Endrit Kaca, Mehmet Hoxha, Kejd Myrta, Mario Ademi, Mentor Mazrekaj, and Arvi Shala.
Meanwhile, Albania will face Cyprus in its second Group A match on Thursday at 20:00 at the “House of Football”.
