TIRANA, May 21 – The third stage of the 83rd Tour of Albania concluded on Wednesday. The stage ran on the Elbasan–Vlora route over 149 kilometres. The average speed reached 48.3 km/h. The stage proved highly competitive. A leading group of five riders reached the finish together. Swiss rider Guillaume Haldimann of Humard VP won the stage. He finished in 3:04:55.
As a result, Haldimann took the yellow jersey. He leads the general classification. His total time stands at 10:03:58. Turkish rider Tahir Bugra Yigit leads the sprint classification. Timotej Bavec of Regional Rimbo Alpine Resort leads the mountain classification. Likas Panacek of Dukla Banka Banska Bystrica leads the U23 classification. Wielerploeg Groot Amsterdam leads the team classification. The team records a total time of 30:12:51.
Earlier, Kjell Cooman of B-Close-Bal-Enzo won the opening stage from Tirana to Lezha. He finished in 3:52:41. His average speed reached 45.7 km/h. Later, Samuel Fedor of Dukla Banska Bystrica won the second stage from Lezha to Elbasan. He finished in 3:06:26. His average speed reached 48.2 km/h.
Meanwhile, the fourth stage takes place today at 12:00. The route runs Vlora–Llogara Tunnel–Himara–Kuç–Lepinca–Kota–Vlora finish. Finally, the tour concludes on May 22 with the final stage from Vlora to Fier via the Lushnja roundabout.
