The post Rama in Durrës: Today’s Albania Is the Result of the Socialist Party’s Work appeared first on Euronews Albania.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Durrës on Monday afternoon for an event marking the opening of a series of meetings with socialists for the 35th anniversary of the Socialist Party of Albania.
Rama expressed pride in the Socialist Party, saying that Albania’s journey has become inseparable from the party’s own path. According to him, if Albania today is a different country, it is due to the заслуги and work of the socialists and Albanian progressives.
He stated that the Socialist Party has become both the voice of the country’s needs and the force that has addressed them. According to Rama, it is now unimaginable to speak of a country still searching for reasonable stability, whereas in the past this had been a fundamental necessity.
Rama said that the Socialist Party embodies and guarantees stability, adding that it was the party that helped lift Albania from major crises and provided the courage needed to undertake essential reforms.
According to him, if Albania today is closer than ever to the European Union, it is for one major reason only: the strength, dedication, and work of the Socialist Party.
He added that the Socialist Party has now become not only a winning force but a dominant one in Durrës, Krujë, Shijak, and throughout the Durrës region, emphasizing that in the latest elections the party achieved its best result ever.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the Socialist Party has embedded in its DNA what makes it an “irreplaceable and indispensable” political force, linking this to its relationship with the past unlike any other political party.
According to him, since its founding, the Socialist Party has clearly defined itself as an anti-fascist and liberal party closely tied to the values of the National Liberation War, which Rama said placed Albania on the right side of history.
At the same time, he stressed that the party has also acknowledged, from its earliest steps, its relationship with the part of the past associated with the communist dictatorship. Rama stated that others have fought, and continue to fight today, against communists rather than communism as a system, whereas the Socialist Party, according to him, has recognized communists for who they were while rejecting communism for what it produced.
Rama also took aim at Sali Berisha, saying it is no coincidence that, on the other side of the political spectrum, what he described as “a remnant of communism” continues to survive at the head of what he called “mistakenly, an opposition,” adding that the worst form of communism is “the anti-communist communist.
