While appreciating Greece’s support for Albania’s European integration path, Minister Nufi emphasized the promotion of regional stability and security, particularly in the Western Balkans, which remains a shared strategic priority for both countries.

“Albania’s main objective in the region remains the advancement of political stability, security, and sustainable economic development. For this reason, we maintain personnel in EUFOR Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in KFOR in Kosovo. Furthermore, the Albanian and Greek naval forces maintain excellent coordination and interoperability through missions in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, including NATO’s Operation Sea Guardian. Meanwhile, Albania is currently undertaking efforts to strengthen and modernize its naval fleet, which will further enhance maritime security and the presence of Allies in the Adriatic-Ionian region,” Nufi stated.

Minister Nufi also praised the strong ongoing cooperation between military personnel through joint activities, military education, training programs, and exchanges of expertise, while emphasizing the particular importance of revitalizing the technical protocol on military medical cooperation between the two countries.

“We believe that we should aim to reactivate this framework, especially in the areas of specialized healthcare, medical training, and professional exchanges, in the spirit of mutual benefit and strategic partnership,” he said.

During the meeting, both sides also jointly highlighted the increased efforts toward capacity development and military-industrial cooperation as key priorities for all Allies, especially in light of the evolving dynamics and decisions within NATO and the European Union.
