Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking at a joint press conference with European Council President Antonio Costa, thanked the latter for his direct engagement in Albania’s European integration journey since the launch of the country’s EU accession negotiations.
Rama stressed that Albania has no disagreements with the European Union, only common concerns that bring the two sides together. As he stated, “we are 100 percent aligned with the EU on all issues.”
“Meeting with you is like attending a masterclass shaped by vast experience and deep knowledge of European affairs. I would like to thank you for your commitment as we move toward completing the first phase and opening new negotiation chapters at a time when we are facing shared challenges.
We fully share the President’s belief that the most important part of our work remains our own efforts. This means we have responsibilities to fulfill, not only for the purpose of joining Brussels, but also to strengthen institutions and independent governance in Albania. At this stage, the main emphasis is on implementing the reforms that have already been successfully carried out, as well as the legislation that will continue to be introduced through the EU integration process.
This is a process that comes with many challenges. The President has encouraged us to intensify our efforts to better inform the public about these challenges. We are 100 percent aligned with the EU on all issues,” Rama said.
