Rama: Socialist Party Has Always Defended Albania’s National Interest

Prime Minister Edi Rama said the ruling Socialist Party has consistently defended Albania’s national interest and urged citizens to support the country’s path toward membership in the European Union.

Speaking at an event marking the 35th anniversary of the Socialist Party in Tirana, Rama acknowledged that the party had made mistakes over the years but stressed that it had never acted against the interests of the country.

Furthermore, he highlighted the party’s contribution to national causes, including its support for Kosovo during difficult periods. Rama said Albania had played an important role in strengthening the position of Albanians across the region and noted that support for the Kosovo Liberation Army had gone beyond words.

At the same time, he criticized political opponents for what he described as inconsistent positions on Kosovo in the past.

In addition, Rama described Albania’s EU accession process as the greatest achievement in the Socialist Party’s history. He called EU membership the “jewel in the crown” of the party’s mission and a key national objective.

Finally, Rama urged Albanians to continue supporting European integration, arguing that membership in the EU is now a realistic and achievable goal for the country.
