TIRANA, June 3 – More than 29,000 domestic and foreign visitors toured Rozafa Castle during May, according to the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Shkodër.
Meanwhile, the institution reported that 62,748 people visited the historic site between January 1 and May 31. The castle remains one of northern Albania’s most visited cultural attractions.
Located above the city of Shkodër, the fortress overlooks surrounding mountains and Lake Shkodër. The city ranks among Albania’s leading tourism destinations and serves as a gateway to the Albanian Alps. Visitors are drawn by its historical heritage, cultural landmarks, and natural landscapes. Local cuisine is also known for carp dishes from the lake and traditional regional products.
In addition, the area offers several major attractions, including Marubi National Museum of Photography and Mesi Bridge. At the same time, nearby destinations such as Shiroka, Vermosh, Razëm and Theth attract visitors seeking mountain trails, alpine scenery, traditional guesthouses, and nature-based experiences.
