The growing influx of foreign visitors to Albania, initially attracted by its affordable accommodation prices, is now contributing to rising costs, particularly in the short-term rental market. As a result, Albania has become the second most expensive country in the Balkans for daily rentals, behind only Montenegro.
AirDNA, an analytics platform that provides data on short-term accommodation units, analyzed average daily rental rates across the region.
According to the published data, Albania ranks second in the Balkans, with an average daily rental price of €57 per night. It is followed by:
- Bosnia and Herzegovina – €56 per night
- Serbia – €51 per night
- Kosovo – €42 per night
Meanwhile, North Macedonia is reported to be the cheapest destination in Europe, with an average rental price of €40 per night.
Despite the increase, Albania remains relatively affordable compared to Montenegro, its main regional tourism competitor, as well as many other European destinations. In Montenegro, the average daily rental rate stands at €79 per night.
For comparison, average nightly rental prices in nearby countries are significantly higher:
- Italy – €146 per night
- Croatia – €130 per night
- Greece – €138 per night
The figures highlight both the growing popularity of Albania as a tourist destination and the upward pressure that increased demand is placing on accommodation prices.
