EU Enlargement Commissioner Kos Praises Albania’s Progress Toward EU Membership

Marta Kos attended a ceremony at Albania’s mission to the European Union in Brussels, where she praised Albania’s progress in the EU accession process.

The event was hosted by Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha following the eighth Intergovernmental Conference and the approval of the IBAR report.

Furthermore, Kos said Albania’s achievements are the result of years of continuous effort. She stressed that no other candidate country has advanced as much in the process with such determination and public support.

In addition, she highlighted that EU accession is not about speed but about readiness. She noted that reforms take time and are essential for full preparation before membership.

Moreover, Kos encouraged Albania to continue on its current path, emphasizing that its progress is among the strongest among candidate countries.

Meanwhile, Hoxha described the Intergovernmental Conference as a historic moment for Albania. He said the IBAR approval confirms that the country’s reform process is serious, credible and effective.

Finally, he thanked the European Commission and all officials involved for their support in advancing Albania’s EU integration journey.
