Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said the government is working to simplify procedures for citizens and businesses through deeper digital integration between public institutions and the banking sector.
Speaking at the workshop on digitalization, public services and commercial banks, Ibrahimaj highlighted efforts to expand digital services, reduce paperwork and improve access to government services.
Furthermore, she said the government is developing a unified interaction model that will allow banks to access state data through a centralized system. As a result, banks would no longer need separate agreements with each public institution.
In addition, officials discussed expanding electronic payments for public services and improving the integration of banking processes with government systems.
Another key topic was the gradual introduction of the “once-only” principle. Under this model, citizens would not need to submit the same documents repeatedly to different institutions.
Moreover, banks could automatically obtain electronic documents from state registries, with customer consent and in accordance with legal requirements. This would speed up services and reduce administrative procedures.
Finally, Ibrahimaj said the next phase of Albania’s digital transformation aims to deliver more integrated services, fewer bureaucratic barriers and a simpler experience for citizens and businesses. She also highlighted plans to expand instant payments and increase the use of electronic payment tools across the public administration.
