Albania loses 0–1 to Israel in friendly under new coach Rolando Maran

TIRANA, June 4 – Albania lost 0–1 to Israel in a friendly match at “Air Albania” stadium in Tirana. The result marked an unsuccessful start to the new era under Italian coach Rolando Maran. Maran started Anis Mehmeti in attack alongside Armando Broja and used Qazim Laçi in an advanced midfield role. Alen Sherri started in goal. The defensive line included Mario Mitaj, Elseid Hysaj, Arlind Ajeti and Berat Gjimshiti. Kristjan Asllani, Ylber Ramadani and Arbër Hoxha formed the midfield.

Albania controlled possession in the first half. However, the team failed to create clear scoring chances. A similar pattern continued in the second half, with possession but limited efficiency in the final third. At the same time, Maran made several substitutions. He introduced Nedim Bajrami, Mirlind Daku, Shehu, Shendi, Hadroj, Pajaziti and debutant Luis Hasa, who made his first appearance for the national team.

However, the changes did not alter the outcome. Israel scored the only goal in the 73rd minute through Gloukh and secured a 0–1 win.

Finally, the match served as an initial test for Maran and an opportunity to assess new players ahead of upcoming fixtures.
