Prime Minister Edi Rama will take part in the EU–Western Balkans Summit on June 5, 2026, in Tivat.
According to Albania’s Media and Information Agency, the summit will bring together leaders from the European Union and the Western Balkans. Participants will reaffirm their strategic partnership and discuss the region’s European integration process.
The meeting comes six months after the previous summit in Brussels. President of the European Council, António Costa, will chair the event. President Jakov Milatović will host the summit.
Leaders attending the gathering will also include Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Kaja Kallas.
Under the theme “Shared Prosperity and Stability of the EU and the Western Balkans,” leaders will discuss EU enlargement, the gradual integration of Western Balkan countries into EU policies and markets, and the implementation of the Growth Plan for the region.
The program will begin with an official welcome ceremony hosted by President Milatović. Leaders will then hold a plenary session to exchange views on European and regional priorities.
The summit will also provide a platform for discussions on common challenges facing both the region and Europe. Participants will focus on strengthening cooperation in security, stability, and sustainable development.
The meeting in Tivat forms part of the implementation of the European Council’s 2024–2029 Strategic Agenda. It also highlights the European Union’s continued commitment to the European future of the Western Balkans.
