The European Union in Albania has supported 22 journalists and media professionals from across the country. Through short-film projects, they highlighted the stories and challenges faced by some of the most vulnerable groups in Albanian society.
The initiative was implemented in cooperation with the organizations Albanian Women in Audiovisual and SCiDEV. Participants produced media content designed to strengthen independent voices and promote diverse perspectives.
Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato stressed the importance of independent journalism in a democratic society.
“A democratic society needs independent journalism,” Gonzato said. He added that it also requires diverse viewpoints supported by equal opportunities.
Furthermore, Gonzato said that initiatives such as “Breaking the Moulds, Shaping the Future” support both media professionals and democratic values. According to him, these values are essential to Albania’s European future.
He also encouraged journalists to continue covering issues of public interest. In addition, he urged them to challenge stereotypes and amplify underrepresented voices.
Finally, the European Union reaffirmed its commitment to supporting projects that strengthen independent media and promote democratic standards in Albania.
