TIRANA, June 6 – Lake Shkodër has received UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, gaining international recognition for one of Albania’s most important natural assets.
Meanwhile, Shkodër Mayor Benet Beci describes the decision as a source of pride for the city and for communities living around the lake. He says the designation recognizes the area’s potential for tourism, local economic growth, regional development, and improved living standards.
In addition, Beci says Lake Shkodër represents more than a natural resource. He describes it as part of the region’s identity and history, as well as one of Shkodra’s most valuable assets.
