TIRANA, June 7 – The Spring Festival returned to the Albanian stage after a 23-year break. It selected 12 finalists on its opening night, in a show marked by nostalgia, live orchestration and competition.
The event took place at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. It brought together emerging performers and established names. Meanwhile, the RTSH Symphony Orchestra and the festival band provided live music. The production combined contemporary staging with references to the festival’s history.
After 20 competitive performances, a jury shortlisted 12 artists for the final. The final is scheduled for June 7.
The finalists are Drina Sheu, Frensi, Herva Novaku, Algert Sala, Jet, Alegra Jaho, Kejsi Jazxhi, Martina Serreqi, Vesa Kelmendi, Niki Zaimi, Voltan Prodani and Arsi Bako.
The programme also highlighted the festival’s origins, closely linked to founder Ferdinand Deda. In addition, it revisited key figures and songs that shaped its identity over time. Veteran performers, including Ledina Çelo, Bashkim Alibali, Altin Goci and Kamela Islamaj, also returned to the stage. This reinforced the event’s intergenerational character.
A tribute was also held for Françesk Radi. Meanwhile, Luan Zhegu received the “Eternal Spring” award.
Attention now turns to the final night. One winner will be named. The festival marks its return as a renewed platform for Albanian music.
