TIRANA, June 8 – Librazhd opened a multifunctional centre for persons with disabilities, offering integrated care and support services for people with special needs and their families.
Health and Social Welfare Minister Evis Sala and Librazhd Mayor Mariglen Disha inspected the facility. They met staff, children with disabilities and their families.
Sala said a multidisciplinary team works daily to provide integrated services for persons with disabilities and their families. She added that 39 community and specialised services operate nationwide through the Social Fund, supporting social inclusion, development and community welfare. She also said the Social Fund is building an integrated system focused on children and families, where children with disabilities receive coordinated services at the centre and at home through mobile support teams.
Librazhd Mayor Mariglen Disha said the centre provides multiple services for residents with special needs. He said around 97 people benefit from the programme in the municipality. He added that the municipality provides transport support, including home visits for people living far from the centre. As a result, cooperation between local authorities and the ministry improves service delivery.
Finally, the Social Fund will finance 14 new services in 2026 for children, mothers in need, people with disabilities, elderly citizens, victims of violence and children without parental care.
