TIRANA, June 9 – German Ambassador to Albania Karl Bergner highlighted the key role of vocational education in economic development at the National Conference on Vocational Education and Training. The conference discussed the results of the reform and the “Skills 2030” vision for skills development and employment growth.
Meanwhile, Bergner said vocational education forms the backbone of the economy. He said it builds the foundation for innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable development. He also said Albania cannot rely only on lawyers and managers. He stressed the need for skilled workers with practical training through vocational education.
In addition, he said vocational education offers opportunities for individuals to develop talent in different fields. He said specialization supports career development and better employment prospects.
Bergner also said recent years have brought important results in the sector. He said vocational education has become more aligned with labour market needs. He added that cooperation with the private sector has strengthened.
At the same time, he announced an additional 14 million euros in support for the sector. He said the investment aims to make vocational education more modern, more attractive, and better aligned with labour market and youth needs.
Finally, he said cooperation among partners has improved the sector. He said it has strengthened capacities and supported long-term strategy development for vocational education in Albania.
