Restoration of Turan Tower continues, Gonxhja says historic values preserved for future generations

TIRANA, June 9 – Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Blendi Gonxhja shared images on social media showing progress in the restoration of Turan Tower. He described it as a monument of special historical and architectural importance.

Meanwhile, he said restoration and consolidation work continues on the monument. He said the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Korça includes the site on its list of at-risk objects. In addition, he said the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport finances the interventions through its emergency fund.

The works include wall consolidation, crack treatment, roof and dome restoration, and improved moisture protection. Gonxhja described Turan Tower as a monument of significant historical and architectural value.

At the same time, he said the project aims to stabilize the monument. He also said it preserves its authenticity. He added that the plan includes its revival as part of local cultural and tourist routes.

Finally, he said the project protects the monument. He said it also reintegrates it into cultural heritage and tourism in the Korça area.
