TIRANA, June 9 – Swiss Ambassador to Albania Ruth Huber said Switzerland strongly supports reforms that place vocational education and training at the centre of social and economic development in Albania. She made the statement during the 3rd National Conference on Vocational Education and Training, where participants discussed reform results.
Meanwhile, Huber said the sector has achieved important results. She highlighted the approach that combines classroom learning with workplace training in companies.
In addition, she said Switzerland introduced this dual model together with the ministry and local actors from the 2024–25 academic year. She said the model opened the path toward a full dual education system.
At the same time, she said accreditation standards have improved. She said they have contributed to better quality and transparency in the system.
Huber said learners who study and work can now have their skills officially recognised. She said this increases their career opportunities.
Meanwhile, she said private companies are increasingly involved in curriculum development. She said they offer workplace training and help align skills with labour market needs.
In addition, she pointed to the hospitality sector as a positive example. She said the Swiss variant is already present in Albania. She said 60 students from the Tirana Hospitality-Tourism School have received higher-level certification.
Finally, Huber said Switzerland continues to support the design and development of systemic reforms in vocational education. She also said the Western Balkans Growth Plan places human capital at its core. She said current achievements provide a strong foundation for future work.
